Jersey city global charter school glassdoor12/23/2023 The school’s founders sought to establish a rigorous, innovative curriculum with authentic and meaningful connections to the real world as the basis for student learning. Representing 37 cultures, JCGCS students enjoy a nurturing, familial atmosphere in which they take risks and embrace perceived failures as exciting opportunities for extending personal growth. Since then, JCGCS has added a grade each year and is slated to serve middle grade students for the 2019-20 school year. The most enjoyable part of the day was in the morning when the students have more energy and motivation to enjoy their school work. Our School first opened its doors to students in Jersey City and neighboring districts in 2013 with an initial population of about 180 students, ranging from kindergarten through second grade. The hardest part of the day was after lunch, trying to get the students' attention back on school work. I worked well with the other second grade teachers to give the students a fun and educational learning environment. My co-workers were team players, energetic and caring people. I've work closely with each student and their parents to give them a better education. I've learned how to use required assessments to better understand each student and diversify each lesson. The experience I've encountered at this school has taught me what public schools expect from students and teachers. Between the hours of 3:00-4:00, the students would participate in MicroSociety, where they would take part in a mock work environment. They would rotate centers at the end of each day. After lunchtime, the students would focus on writing skills, followed by science and social studies. Afterwards, we would have one hour of reading, followed by a short break, then one hour of math. The students would begin their day by writing in a daily journal. The school day would begin at 8:00 and end at 4:00.
